Dennis Argul  was the Brass Designer for the 2011, 2009 and 2007 (2007 DCA Class A Champion) Sunrisers.
One of the most accomplished and sought after brass arrangers in the business, Mr. Argul has taught at Jersey City State University and is presently a fulltime Music Teacher at Arts High School in Newark, NJ (the first high school of the arts in the country.)
Mr. Argul has performed in various venues in the New Jersey/New York area, including performing on Broadway, as a bass trombone, tenor trombone, tuba and euphonium player. He currently works as a freelance Low Brass musician throughout the metropolitan area. Mr. Argul is also a freelance composer and arranger, most recently receiving an award through the New Jersey Council on the Arts in composition.
We are honored to have Mr. Argul as a part of our family and look forward to a long and prosperous working relationship with him.


Eugene F. Bennett  has, in the past, taken on the responsibilities of: Visual Consultant, Sunrisers 2007, Bushwackers 2006, Visual Consultant/Instructor Caballeros 1995-2004; Visual Designer/Instructor Sachem High School Band, Sachem, New York; World Drum Corps Hall of Fame, 2002; Sunrisers Hall of Fame, 2001; Visual Designer/Instructor, Sunrisers 1965-1979 and Visual Instructor, 1985-1989; Member, Sunrisers as Drum Major or Color Guard, 1965-1969; DCE Adjudicator, 1989-1990; DCA Adjudicator, 1982; Visual Designer/Instructor, Kings Park Kingsmen, Kings Park, New York, 1967-1974
Mr. Bennett brings with him to the 2012 Sunrisers, fifty years of drum corps experience.


James Downey  joined the Valley Stream PBC Firebirds Drum and Bugle Corps in 1973, where he played the drums for one season. He returned in 1975 with his single piston bugle in hand and marched until the corps disbanded in 1976. Later that same year, he joined Rosedale’s St. Clair’s Drum & Bugle Corps where he played the rotary valve bugle. He joined St. Matthias’ Blue Max of Ridgewood, New York, where he began to play the two valve bugle. Blue Max won the Nassau - Suffolk Indoor Championships for both the 1977 and 1978 seasons, with Jim playing lead soprano.
Beginning his marching career, he joined the Long Island Sunrisers in 1979. He began his teaching career with the Long Island Grenadiers in 1983 by teaching the brass line to play. With his assistance, the Grenadiers won the Garden State Championships in 1983 and 1984. He became the Caption Head Horn Instructor for the 1986 through 1989 seasons. During this period, he simultaneously competed with the Sunrisers as a Lead Soprano Bugler. In 1991, Jim co-directed a senior corps that competed in the DCA and Garden State Circuit.
Jim became the Copiague High School’s Visual Instructor in 1992 and began writing and teaching for them during the 1993 and 1994 seasons. From 1995 through 2007, Jim was very busy, teaching three different High Schools. From 2007 to the present time, Jim has been teaching the Roslyn High School Marching Band. He rejoined the Sunrisers as a consultant in 2011.
Jim has been in the HVAC field for the past thirty two years and is currently a field supervisor for a firm located in Westbury, New York.


Mr. Nash  brings with him a wealth of drum corps experience, having begun his career at the age of six in a small corps from Brooklyn, NY that was an offshoot of the Loyal Order of Odd Fellows fraternal organization. Mr. Nash then continued his junior corps career with the Wynn Center Toppers, the St. Joseph Patron Cadets and the nationally ranked St. Rita’s Brassmen of Brooklyn, NY.
From 1973 until the present, Mr. Nash has enjoyed associations with the New York Skyliners, Harrison Bushwackers, Hawthorne Caballeros, Syracuse Brigadiers, Atlanta Corpsvets and Fusion Core in the Drum Corps Associates’ (DCA) arena. During that time he has been fortunate enough to be part of a record nine DCA World Championships and one American Legion National Title. In addition, Mr. Nash was also an integral part of seven DCA Percussion Titles. Mr. Nash is also a 3-time DCA individual Snare Drumming Champion. Mr. Nash has previously served as Percussion Caption Head and Arranger for various drum corps and high school bands in the tri-sate area, most notably the Caballeros, Skyliners, Corpsvets and the Lehigh Valley Knights in DCI Division III.
In September of 2007, Mr. Nash was inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame and is a member of the Vic Firth educational team…


Alyssa Rizzuto  is currently the Band Director at Catherine and Count Basie M.S. 72 in Jamaica, Queens. She graduated from Brentwood High School and recently received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Hofstra University. Alyssa has been a drill and music instructor for the Brentwood “Green Machine” Marching Band since 2008.
She has been with the Sunrisers since 2009. In 2011, Alyssa was added to the staff as an in-line Brass Technician. Alyssa maintains a private French horn studio as well as performing as a freelance musician.


Joe Sitler  is beginning his sixth season as a key leader of the Sunrisers’ team by returning, once again as Brass Caption Head for the 2012 Season. Mr. Sitler has marched in the Sound of Long Island, 1990, Cadets, 1991 (left tour early due to family emergency) and the Sunrisers, 1991-1992, 1994-1998.
Mr. Sitler graduated LIU CW Post with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Education, 1995, and Queens College with Master of Arts in Music Education, 2000.
Mr. Sitler is currently enrolled in the Wind Conducting Program at Hofstra University and is a 14-year veteran band teacher in the Brentwood School District - West Middle School. Mr. Sitler was Drill/Music Technician for the Brentwood High School Marching Band, 1992-1998, Associate Band Director, Brentwood High School Marching Band, 1999-present, and Band Camp Instructor for the Arlington High School Marching Band, 1997-2005. Mr Sitler served as a Visual Staff Member for the Sunrisers, 1994-1996 and Brass Instructor for the Sunrisers, 1997-1998, 2007-2009.
