Patty (Cicchino) Bauer

Mellophone 1990-1999, 2001 - Mallets 2000 - Sunrisers' minicorps 2002
Alumni Admin, PR, etc. - 1990-?

Patty Bauer’s induction is unique for a marching member in that she was nominated and elected not for her abilities on the field but for her contributions off the field.

Soon after Patty became a member, she took over maintenance of “The Phone List” and inherited the job of making the calls necessary to keep the members informed of changes and announcements. Soon afterwards she took charge of dues collection. Then came calls from people that needed rides to and from bus and train stations. That became Patty’s job too. Then she and partner Marty Roche began inviting out of town members to spend their rehearsal weekend nights at their home. That, of course, involved extra meals. Their home soon became a regular gathering place for Sunrisers and led to the establishment of the annual New Years Eve party.

And then the season started...
More trips to the bus and train station and more overnight guests. Again, if the corps stayed at a motel and someone didn’t have the funds to pay for a room they knew where to stop. She also devised a money making plan. For long bus trips, Patty would fill large coolers with cold drinks and sell them to the corps members, donating all the profits to the corps. She also took time to look out for the younger female members, providing guidance and often tough love. Somewhere along the line Patty also became corps Secretary which involved correspondence and following up on all manner of things. Patty helped establish and maintain the Alumni list. She used her personal truck to transport corps equipment. She manned the Sunrisers recruiting booth at YEA band shows. She helped organized and run numerous Sunrisers Awards Nights.

And finally, since Patty’s residence on the west coast inhibits her from taking a direct part in the operations of the corps, she has taken it upon herself to assure that when a Sunriser loses a loved one, there is a gorgeous floral piece at the wake reminding them that they have not been forgotten and “Once a Sunriser, Always a Sunriser.”

It is only proper that tonight we pay homage to this totally dedicated, loyal, unselfish, and generous lady that truly exemplifies the true spirit that is the Sunrisers.

Patty Cicchino Bauer, welcome to the Sunrisers Hall of Fame, Class of 2010.
