The Wynn Center Toppers went through a major transition, losing most of their membership because of age-outs. They were a state championship corps, starting over. After almost three years of doing parades, Nat saw his first field competition. He then joined the O.L.P.H. Ridgemen. He marched with the Ridgemen for three years playing baritone then switching to contra bass. During this time, he slowly developed his love for the Sunrisers. He then joined Sun for the 1967 season. One of his favorite Sun memories was performing with the 1968 corps, winning the State Championship and the American Legion National Title in New Orleans. He left the corps after the 1969 season. After realizing "real" life stinks, he rejoined the Sunrisers at the end of the 1977 season. After winning three more DCA Championships, Nat ended his marching career in 1985. Nat became Business Manager of the Sunrisers and went on to achieve two more DCA Championships. He ended his career with the Sunrisers in 1993.
