Lenny Haring marched with the Sunrisers from 1974 through 1987 as a mellophone and baritone player, and was a member of the corps' American Flag section (honor guard) in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Lenny served as director of the corps in 1980, 1981, 1982 and again in 1985. As director, he helped steer the Sunrisers through a rebuilding year in 1980 and led the corps to its third DCA championship title in 1982. He also was instrumental in recruiting a sizable number of new members for the corps from New Jersey.
