In 1969, you and eight other young ladies stepped forward at a time
of critical need for the Sunrisers and volunteered to fill the
flash flag vacancies in our color guard. The demands for learning
that show were great and the time was short but you met the challenge
with dedication, intensity, and courage. In doing so, you and your
colleagues not only made our field show complete but created the first
All Girl color guard in DCA senior corps history thus set a precedent
that has endured to the present day and changed forever the image of senior corps.
All Sunrisers, past and present, and particularly those of us that
marched that year, thank you for the sacrifices you made to help make the corps a success
and congratulate you on your induction into the Sunrisers Hall of Fame.
