In the early '60s, as the Sunrisers were ascending to national prominence,
you were the Poet Laureate. You gave us classic originals
and definitive interpretations like "Bo Bo", "The Song of the Sewer", "Hi, Neighbor",
"IYM" and countless other humorous and ribald
ballads and poems. This, alone, would have secured your place in Sunriser lore,
but you also gifted the corps with the "Animal Bus" and
that paragon of jurisprudence, the "Bus Trial".
All of these things were irreverent, politically incorrect, and served to supply a
sense of cohesion and tribal loyalty that endures
among Sunrisers to the present day.
A person who simultaneously creates limericks, reads law texts and plays the baritone
can only be called a "Drum Corps Rennassance
Man". Our hats are off to you, and we sing you a hymn.
