Hi! My name is John Schroeder. I marched with Sun in 1965 and half a season in 1966 until the "military draft" put a damper on my drum and bugle corps activities for awhile.

I started out with a local junior corps from Hempstead, the Dynamics. That was what really got me interested in drum and bugle corps. The Sunrisers were the only senior corps on Long Island at the time. I had seen them many times when they were with the Mass. F.D., Hempstead Legion, etc.

I traveled throughout New England and into Canada, and had a tremendous experience. I believe my time in the Sunrisers made military life easier and more bareable.
