I was in the Original Girls Guard that broke barriers in 1969 and stayed through 1975.
I actually started my days in Drum Corps at 12 years old in the local church corps from
Westbury, L.I. and found my way to the Farmingdale Vanguards where I met the Baldwin
Family who introduced me to the Sunrisers.
The Baldwin Brothers eventually defected to the Cabs, but I stayed and had one of the
best times in my life.
Drum Corps teachs values of loyalty and friendship and dedication to
excellence that you can learn no other way. I really feel the discipline helped me in
later life.
I eventually met Cliff Diable, who also broke barriers along with his Triumph Sports Car
(those from our era know what I mean) and played the first Vibes to be mobile on the Drum
Corps Field.
We married in 1971 and had a Junior Corps from Huntington,L.I. actually play outside the
church. Of course the wedding took place in November as who gets married during 'the season'.
We have two beautiful children, Deanna, now 26 and Joseph, now 23, who did not inherit
the Drum Corps Gene. Cliff and I separated in 1982 and eventually divorced but three
things we do have in common are the kids and drum corps.
I commute from Long Island to New York City each day for work in the computer industry
and love Manhattan. Can't imagine living anywhere else in the US.

Also, why is the whole original girl guard in the hall of fame?
